With this class the students are going to learn about different "isms" – art movements, from Impressionism to Surrealism. Each lesson is devoted to a single art historical period and begins with an introduction that explains when the movement/ism first emerged, the historical period to which it applies, and which artists painted the most famous examples.The students will write down facts about each ism, then paint an example of the movement as a tree.By the end of class each student will take home their own unique booklet, representing 11 different “isms”.With this class, students will not only get a great understanding of many movements but also achieve great painting skills while learning about acrylic paint, brushes and techniques.
